Get Your Science On: The Jam-Packed Orlando Science Centre

The Orlando Science Centre is an excellent family attraction and one of the best places to visit when you head to Orlando on a holiday. There is so much going on here that you could happily spend a whole day or longer exploring.

Packed with four floors of exciting exhibits, there is no shortage of things to see and do. Many of the exhibits are hands-on and interactive, making it the ideal museum for children, and it will also provide an educational experience. It may even inspire your kids to become the next generation of scientists, so after your visit, consider looking at SciQuip’s range of equipment for lab research and see if your child is interested in any of it. If they are, then the Orland Science Centre did its job! Here’s a quick guide to the main attractions inside the museum to help you plan your visit.

Permanent Exhibits

Tourists spending time in their Orlando vacation rentals should spend a day at the Orlando Science Centre to enjoy the huge range of exhibits that make up the bulk of the attractions at the museum. There are many halls packed full of exhibits, all of which are ideal places for exploring and discovering.

Check out NatureWorks to discover the mysteries of reptiles, DinoDigs to find out more about the dinosaurs, Our Planet, Our Universe, which is all about the Earth, and KidsTown, which is ideal for the youngsters.

Sesame Street

Sesame Street Exhibit

This travelling exhibit is called ‘Sesame Street Presents: The Body’, and it provides a fun learning experience for children. It is interactive and hands-on, allowing the young visitors to explore the human body and learn all about it as well as how to stay healthy. Kids will get to visit Sesame Street and meet the residents while learning at the same time, making it a must during your visit.

Science Live!

The best way to learn is to see things in real life, and the Science Live! events at the Science Centre do just that. These fun and interesting live events are held in the Digital Adventure Theatre, and consist of tabletop demonstrations that bring principles of science to life in a more interesting way.

Science Stations

Science Stations are found throughout the museum, and they are part exhibit, part live programme. They provide a more in-depth look into some of the exhibits, making them an excellent place to stop off for people who want to find out more information. These stations could be an excellent starting point for children as well as adults who have an innate urge to explore various science concepts and gain some extra knowledge. The equipment used is said to be perfectly safe and designed to facilitate experimentation and learning, which could also act as design inspiration (similar to these here) for science labs in schools and other learning centres. Different science stations operate on different days, so find out in advance which are operating.

Digital Adventure Theatre

The Digital Adventure Theatre is where the Science Live! talks take place, but you can also watch movies here. The Science Centre has partnered with National Geographic, and will be showing 2D and 3D films throughout the year. The theatre has a 4K projection system, providing much greater detail than HD, making this a fantastic viewing experience.

OSC Play 2

Dr Phillip’s CineDome

This giant screen and planetarium provides spectators with incredible images of the natural world, transporting the audience to exciting locations such as the top of Mount Everest. You can recreate a planetarium in your own home, just check out the home planetarium guide from here on biz, but it’s not quite the same as the 8,000 square foot screen presenting the image all around you, providing a unique experience.

Events

There are always lots of events going on at the Science Centre, but these change throughout the year. Check the schedule when you visit to find out what’s on. You may be able to enjoy such events as Science Night Live or SunWatch.

Make Sure You Visit the Orlando Science Centre

There are few museums that can boast such a wide range of fun, interactive and fascinating exhibits as the Orlando Science Centre.
