Could Camping be the PERFECT Couples Holiday?

Getting away from it all is one of the main reasons we go on holiday. And one of the best ways to get away from it all is on a couple camping holiday. Wait! Before you run off saying about wet weekends in Devon or that muddy field at Glastonbury, don’t worry, camping has come a long way.

At heart, camping is setting up camp in nature and sitting around a fire. The modern version can mean luxurious yachts, modern caravans with all mod cons, and even comfortable insulated tents with access to electricity. It might be a good idea to hire caravans and escape from day-to-day life and enjoy your own time.

Caravan parks and campsites are often in beautiful areas close to natural attractions such as beaches, national parks, mountains or forests. As such they make the perfect base to head out and explore the great outdoors.

Why go camping?

The joy of camping is that it brings you closer to nature and away from the hustle-bustle of big cities. If you’ve seen the Eiffel Tower and Venice or you’re not bothered about queueing to get into museums, it can be the perfect antidote from the modern world.

It’s also a great opportunity to go ‘off grid’ for a few days and escape the internet. Although most campsites have electric and many have access to wifi too, it can be a great excuse to switch off and just listen to the silence or look at the stars. If you own a caravan, this is the ideal opportunity to get away to a spot where you can relax. However, in order to have a seamless journey, make sure that all of the caravan-parts are in functioning order. However, if you are in the process of getting a camping vehicle, you might want to make sure that it has all the necessities such as bathrooms, heating, air conditioning systems, etc. Additionally, you might also be interested in pop up campers with bathrooms, which might be a good choice for couples.

And what can be more romantic on a couples holiday than just taking time out to enjoy each other’s company around a camp fire? Or wandering lazily along a beach at sunset?

What to do on a camping holiday?

Wherever you choose to go camping you’re sure to be a stone’s throw from stacks of fun outdoor activities.

  • Hire a bike and explore forest trails.
  • Head out on a kayak tour of the local rivers and canals.
  • Hike hills and mountain paths.
  • Explore local villages and towns.
  • Hit the beach and surf, fish, dive or just relax!

On top of this many campsites and caravan parks often have modern amenities such as spas and swimming pools through to yoga classes or gyms. Perfect for unwinding at the end of a hard day’s outdoor fun.

Where to find the best camping holidays

There are quite a lot of sites online such as Midwest Camping where you could search for the perfect camping ground. If you aren’t too keen on roughing it, never fear, there are many options for luxury campsites as well.

For mainland Europe, one of the world’s most popular camping destinations, there are perfect pitches almost everywhere. EuroCamp have caravan parks across the continent with options from humble canvas tents through to lodges and bungalows.

Across the UK and Ireland there are many independently run campsites. The USA and Canada are also excellent places to get into the great outdoors on a camping holiday. Australia is also stacked full of exceptional camping opportunities, of course.

So next time you’re wondering where to go and unwind, head to the great outdoors for some real R&R!
